Power restored to hundreds after wire theft from substation in Trimble County

According to the Shelby Energy Cooperative, someone cut the grounds and stole wire from the Milton substation. Hundreds were without power as temperatures reached 90

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Some Shelby Energy Cooperative customers in Trimble County experienced temporary outages following a theft at one of their substations.

According to the City of Milton, someone broke into the Milton substation, cut the grounds and stole wire sometime Friday night.

The company said they had to take down the substation for a few hours, leaving 1,500 without power as temperatures were near 90 degrees Saturday afternoon.

The SEC said all four feeders have been fixed and all customers should have their power restored.

"Thank you for hanging in there with us. We know it’s hot today," SEC said on their Facebook page.

They are asking anyone with information on this theft to call the Trimble County Sheriff’s Office at (502) 255-7138.

Milton, Kentucky is about 50 miles northeast of Louisville.
