LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – One person has been killed and four others injured following a crash in southwestern Jefferson County Tuesday.
Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Greenbelt Highway and Ashby Farm Drive around 4 p.m.
According to a preliminary investigation, police say a silver vehicle at a stop sign attempted to turn north onto the Greenbelt Highway from Ashby Farms Drive. A car traveling southbound on the Greenbelt collided with that vehicle.
Police say the driver of the silver vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene and the passenger in that vehicle was transported to University Hospital with serious injuries.
Three other victims who were in the second vehicle were also transported to the hospital with injuries ranging from minor to very serious.
North and southbound lanes on the Greenbelt Highway were closed down while during the investigation.
LMPD’s Traffic Unit will oversee the investigation.
