14-year-old fatally shot on W. Kentucky Street

The Louisville Metro Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting in the 3200 block of W. Kentucky Street, in West Louisville.

LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) – The Louisville Metro Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting in the 3200 block of W. Kentucky Street, in West Louisville.

LMPD said a 14-year-old male died in this shooting. It happened around 10 a.m. inside a home in the Parkland neighborhood.

Family members and another teenager were inside at the time of the shooting, LMPD's Dwight Mitchell said.

"At this time we feel that we have all the persons involved," Mitchell said.

Mitchell said the teen and the person who fired the gun are family.

Although police aren't looking for other suspects, some neighbors say the on-going investigation has affected everyone on the block.

"And the vibe you can feel it. It's in the air. This whole block is not normal,' Ashley Lanham, a Parkland resident, said.

Lanham is a mother who carries a gun to protect her own family, she said this tragedy is an opportunity to make sure another child doesn't lose their life from a gunshot.

"I'm begging all mothers, please, please teach your children not to play with guns."

The homicide unit is investigating but this case is considered a death investigation.
