LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A memorial was held Tuesday, one year after a 14-year-old was stabbed to death at a gas station in the Portland neighborhood.
There was a massive outpouring to remember the life of Madison Branch who was killed in 2017 at the Speedway on 21st and Duncan Streets.
Police say Madison was stabbed to death by 19-year-old Tiffany James during a fight.
James’ family claims she was only trying to protect her younger sister from bullying.
Branch’s family denies those claims.
Her grandmother wishes something had been done to prevent Madison’s murder.
“They should have called 911 before this happened, I seen the video. There’s multiple videos. There was so much time – they had – they could’ve called 911 before my granddaughter was stabbed – before my granddaughter was murdered,” Kim Hillard said.
Tiffany James is out on work release and is expected back in court in September.
