LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A 15-year-old has been hospitalized after a motorbike and minivan collided in Portland.
Metro Police said the crash happened on 16th and West Main Street around 5 p.m. Monday.
In their preliminary investigation, LMPD were told by witnesses that a minivan driven by a man was headed westbound on West Main Street and had the green light when it entered the intersection at North 16th Street.
That’s when police said a teen driving a motorbike traveling at a high rate of speed going southbound on 16th Street struck the minivan.
The teen was ejected from the bike and struck the side of a building. Police said they were wearing a helmet.
They were taken to Norton Children's Hospital with serious injuries and believed to be non-life threatening.
The driver of the minivan was not hurt.
LMPD’s Traffic Unit said the investigation is ongoing.
No charges are expected in this incident.
