PORTLAND, Ind. (AP) -- The last of five people have been sentenced to decades in prison on murder convictions in the beating and stabbing death of a man in an eastern Indiana cornfield.
A Jay County judge on Monday, August 16 sentenced 21-year-old Addison Pijnappels to 55 years for her role in the 2008 death of Portland resident Shawn Buckner.
A jury last month convicted her and 37-year-old Tina Whiting on murder charges. Whiting was sentenced Friday to a 55-year prison term.
Witnesses testified that the women lured Buckner to Whiting's apartment with an offer of group sex. Buckner was severely beaten there by three men who then took him to a cornfield, where he was stabbed 20 times.
The three man have been sentenced to prison terms ranging from 53 years to 75 years.
