LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Monday marked a big moment for the Trager Family Jewish Community Center (JCC) the WHAS Crusade for Children and the community.
The Blieden Family Playground officially opened on Monday with a ribbon-cutting.
It's an accessible and inclusive playground meant for children of all capabilities to enjoy together.
A JCC spokesperson said it exceeds the Americans with Disabilities Act requirements to support children with disabilities.
“We are thrilled to provide this safe place where children of all ages and capabilities can play together and have access to the welcoming environment of the Trager Family JCC,” Senior Vice President and COO Tom Wissinger said.
A grant from the WHAS Crusade for Children played a key role in opening the playground, which JCC leadership is grateful for.
The WHAS Crusade for Children has granted more than $350 thousand to the JCC since 2015.
This is where your donations make a huge difference in the lives of children with differing abilities.
Some of the amenities include a swing that allows children in wheelchairs to ride, a slide that's wide enough for children to go down together that also prevents static electricity and an instrument that lets children create calming music before heading out to play officials said.
