LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Attorneys for Brooks Houck have filed a change of venue request for his trial on his theft charges.
Houck was arrested and charged in Nelson County with stealing shingles from Lowe’s in the July incident.
This case is separate from his connection to the disappearance of his former girlfriend Crystal Rogers.
She has not been found. Houck was named a suspect in that case but has never been charged.
According to the Kentucky Standard, Houck’s attorneys feel he won’t get a fair trial on the theft charges because of what they describe as a media circus surrounding Rogers’ disappearance.
A judge could rule on the change of venue request on Dec. 20.
