BARDSTOWN, Ky. (WHAS11) -- There may be fewer leads but that doesn't mean law enforcement is not actively searching for the killer of 33-year-old Bardstown Officer Jason Ellis.
'Every tip no matter how small it seems, we follow every one up,' Bardstown Police Chief Rick McCubbin said.
Ellis was fatally shot in the early morning hours of May 25 on an exit ramp off Bluegrass Parkway when he got out of his police cruiser to remove branches placed on the road. Police believe the branches were laid as part of an ambush, but they have not identified any suspects.
Bardstown Police Chief Rick McCubbin was in Louisville on Thursday and updated us on the case.
Chief Rick McCubbin admits it's a frustrating process.
'Eliminated a lot of possibilities; Eliminated a lot of people but we are still not focused in one direction,' Chief McCubbin said.
The reward money keeps growing. It's now up to $185,000 for anyone with information leading to an arrest.
