LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Bellarmine University broke ground on one of the most significant construction projects in the school's 64-year history.

Centro is a three-story, 47,000-square foot building that will house the School of Business, Institute for Advanced Analytics, and an admissions welcome center. It will also house various other offices and departments. This $25-million project is just the start for Bellarmine which, like the University of Louisville, plans to modernize and expand.

"We've been growing enough that we really need classroom space, we need faculty, office space and more student-life space for the things like campus ministry and career planning and placement. Also it's a nice opportunity to have our sales offices up here, the enrollment management," Dr. Jay McGowan, president of Bellarmine University, said.

Centro is being built in front of Horrigan Hall, the university's main administrative building. Horrigan will get a face-lift to match the new facade of Centro.
