Bezo's Academy shares look at Okolona facility

It doesn't open until Fall 2025, but officials are giving a preview of the new school near Jefferson's Landing.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bezos Academy in Okolona is a year from officially opening and school leaders gave a first look at the facility.

The tuition-free, Montessori-inspired preschool is dedicated to low-income families in the area.

Construction at the school next to Jefferson’s Landing is just about complete, and they are ready to finish up the classrooms.

The school will serve nearly 80 students when it opens in fall 2025.

Allison Leader, with the academy, hopes to fill a gap in childcare.

“We find there are two reasons this gap exists – one is accessibility. I don’t live near where there are programs [that] I have access to. The second is affordability. I can’t pay for it and there’s a big gap there we are trying to move the needle,” Leader explained.
