LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The California Community Center is celebrating its upgraded technology.
According to Metro Government, there are an estimated 45,000 homes across Louisville that do not have access to a computer.
It was one of reasons why the city has invested in technology and connectivity.
“We are here to provide resources no matter how far west your neighborhood no matter your lineage you deserve to be included in the progress of this city, this commonwealth and this county," District 4 Metro Councilman Jecorey Arthur said.
The upgrades at the California Community center include new computers, 3D printers and VR headsets.
“Think about just young people how important it is for young people to have opportunities to learn, to explore to do their homework to communicate with others, ultimately to look for jobs and beyond its as important as to learn to read and write and its only getting more important every day," Mayor Craig Greenberg said.
In total, Metro Government is spending $270,000 on upgrades at several parks and community centers.
