LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Voters will see Trump’s name on the primary ballot next May but it’s not the president.
Republican Carl Nett will have “Trump” listed as a nickname when he runs for secretary of state in Kentucky.
State law allows candidates to have a nickname on the ballot after they submit an affidavit saying they are not using it to gain an advantage.
Nett’s affidavit says he was an early supporter of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign and his enthusiasm led people to begin calling him “Trump”.
He will appear on the ballot as Carl “Trump” Nett.
Nett previously made news this spring for sending a threatening tweet to Democratic Congressman John Yarmuth.
He later apologized and deleted the tweet.
