LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A 12-year-old boy has died after he became trapped under a vehicle in the Parkland neighborhood Friday afternoon.
According to a Louisville Metro Police spokesperson, the incident happened in the 1100 block of S. 26th St. around 4:30 p.m.
Family members told investigators the victim was standing behind a vehicle which was being worked on in the backyard of a residence. That's when a sibling got inside the vehicle and accidently put it in reverse, causing the vehicle to back over the 12-year-old boy.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the Homicide Unit is handling the case as a "death investigation" since it happened on private property and not a public thoroughfare.
