LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- Louisville's Christopher 2X is receiving the 2018 Marsy's Law distinction in victim services award.

Marsy's Law State Director Ashlea Christiansen presented the award to the community activist at the Pegasus Institute on Tuesday morning, July 31.

Chris 2X was given the award for his dedication to go above and beyond to protect and support victims of crime.

Marsy's Law passed the general assembly earlier in 2018 and will be on the ballot in November.

The law determines victims of crime in all states must, by law, be treated with respect and dignity by the criminal justice system.

Courts must consider the safety of victims and families when setting bail and release conditions.
