LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A Louisville Metro Police officer will get a very special thank Friday as he is set to retire after 20 years of service.
Ofc. Steve Kelsey will be celebrated at a retirement party at the Clifton Center. Fellow officers, as well as 9-year-old Erica Hughes, will be on hand to honor Kelsey.
Hughes was just 2-year-old when she was shot multiple times and her mother was killed at their Louisville home back in 2006.
Kelsey was the officer that drove Erica to the hospital that fateful day and saved her life.
The celebration kicks off at 7 p.m.
