Coroner identifies man who died following shooting in California neighborhood

Police said the 44-year-old was involved in some type of dispute on Sunday.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A 44-year-old man shot in the California neighborhood over the weekend has been identified.

The Jefferson County Coroner said Shane Spanjers died from gunshot wounds.

Metro Police believe Spanjers was involved in some type of dispute in the 1000 block of South 26th Street around 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

He was taken to the hospital but died while in surgery a short time later.

Police said everyone involved in the incident has been accounted for and the investigation is ongoing. They were still working out the details as to what may have led to the shooting.
