Coroner ID's man involved in fatal I-64 crash in Louisville

Authorities' initial investigation and witness statements revealed three motorcycles were speeding when one of the drivers lost control of his bike.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Editor's note: The above video is from when the incident happened on Tuesday, May 28.

The coroner's office has identified the man that died in the fatal motorcycle crash that happened on Interstate 64 in downtown Louisville on Tuesday.

According to Louisville Metro Police (LMPD), officers were called to I-64 just west of the 9th Street exit ramp around 3:10 p.m. on reports of an incident involving a motorcycle.

Authorities' initial investigation and witness statements revealed three motorcycles were speeding when one of the drivers, later identified as 23-year-old Cody Cunningham, lost control of his bike, hit the concrete barrier and fell about 30 feet to a nearby parking lot near the Frazier Museum.

Police said the his bike continued about another 250 feet before stopping.

Medical professionals pronounced Cunningham dead at the scene.
