INDIANAPOLIS (WHAS11) – Many people would be upset to realize they were sold the wrong lottery ticket, but thanks to a small mistake, one Indiana couple won the jackpot.
Herby Shehorn intended to buy $10 in Mega Millions, but when he got home, he realized he had actually been given $10 in CA$H 5.
That mistake made Herby and his wife Cori rich. They won $703,588 before taxes.
“The next morning, I went in and said, ‘I’m sure glad you screwed up,’” he said.
The Shehorns said they are now able to “live burden free.” They plan to save some of the money and renovate their home.
