LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) — The LMPD Traffic Unit is investigating after a bicyclist was struck and killed late Wednesday night.
According to police, officers responded to a call of a vehicle collision involving a bicyclist on Fern Valley Rd. near Jefferson Blvd. around 11 p.m.
The preliminary investigation reveals that the driver of a vehicle was heading west on Fern Valley Road when that vehicle struck a bicyclist in the rear. The bicyclist, identified as 61-year-old Ernest Jones Junior, received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.
There are no charges expected at this time and alcohol may have been a factor involving the bicyclist. The incident is still under investigation.
