LMPD: 1 dead after crash in Jacobs neighborhood

Witnesses told police a driver was traveling at a high rate of speed on 7th Street Road near Berry Boulevard and Manslick Road before crashing early Monday.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Metro Police said a person has died after an early Monday crash in the Jacobs neighborhood.

Fourth Division officers responded to Manslick Road and Berry Boulevard around 5:30 a.m. following reports of the incident.

In their preliminary investigation, witnesses told police a car was traveling southbound on 7th Street at high rates of speed when a man driving the vehicle lost control, striking a guardrail. The vehicle continued into the intersection and also struck a utility pole.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity is not known.

No other vehicles were involved.

LMPD’s Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.
