JCPS bus carrying students hit in crash near Valley Station; What we know

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — All lanes of traffic on Dixies Highway near Valley Station have reopened hours after a minivan rear-ended a Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) bus Wednesday afternoon.

According to Louisville Metro Emergency Services, all lanes of Dixie Highway just south of Blevins Gap Road were shut down around 2:45 p.m.

A JCPS spokesperson said 30 students from Dixie Elementary were on board Bus 1347 when the crash occurred. 

No serious injuries were reported by students, but some students did report neck pain and will be evaluated by first responders, they said.

All other students will be picked up by another bus and taken home, JCPS said.

The bus driver was take to UofL Health's Southwest Hospital and two students were also transported to a downtown hospital for minor injuries, officials said.

LMPD said there were no reported injuries from those inside the van.
