LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The head of Metro Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) is being sued for defamation for comments he made about a DJ while denying a bar's liquor license permit in October.
Louisville ABC denied Baxter 942's liquor license renewal late last month.
In their denial, they cited repeated acts of violence, which they connected to the bar's hiring of DJ Lil' Jerry and friends.
"Public safety is our top priority, and after careful consideration of the risks posed by continued operation, we have determined this action is necessary to protect our community," officials said in the letter. "Louisville Metro ABC will continue to work with local establishments to ensure the safety and security of our city's nightlife."
Now, that DJ is suing Bradley Silveria, the head of Metro ABC, saying the claims he made against the DJ are false.
"I take all the necessary and required precautions when hosting a party and would never promote violence at my events," Jerry said outside of Baxter 942 on Nov. 1.
The DJ said in the lawsuit filed on Thursday that his reputation has been harmed and he's lost income due to the claims.
