Thousands of students gather in downtown Louisville for Cross Conference

Around 11,000 of the students from across the globe poured into the downtown convention center to listen to speakers on Wednesday.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Crowds of college students will be in downtown Louisville until Jan. 5 for an annual conference.

Called the "Cross Conference," it's aimed at the gospel, the local church and other nations.

Around 11,000 of the students from across the globe poured into the downtown convention center to listen to speakers.

One student, 22-year-old Jason Hinkle, told WHAS11 News he arrived this afternoon and immediately got to work. He attends college in North Carolina.

"It's giving people a vision for young adults who want to travel, maybe globally, to go do missions in different countries," he said. "But it's just a place to come to talk about Jesus, talk about missions and making his name known among all nations."

About 10 food trucks were lined up outside the convention center, greeting students before they went inside.
