ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. — A 59-year-old Campbellsville man was found dead Tuesday at a manufacturing plant in Elizabethtown.

Elizabethtown police were called at about 4:30 p.m. after it was discovered that an employee at Metalsa, later identified as Franklin Logsdon, never clocked out and could not be found.

Metalsa employees reportedly "searched the plant high and low and could not find him," according to a statement from E-Town Police.

At some point during the search, police say it was determined there was a high probability Logsdon may have fallen into a chemical holding tank.

The chemical tank was searched and the body of Logsdon was found inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Our most sincere thoughts and prayers remain with Mr. Logsdon’s family, friends, and coworkers," Elizabethtown Police Department spokesperson Chris Denham said in a statement on Wednesday.

This is the second death at the plant in recent years. In 2022, a 24-year-old employee died after being hit by a forklift.
