LOUISVILLE, Ky. — An upcoming rally at the State Capitol in Frankfort will celebrate 25 years of Louisville’s Fairness Ordinance.
On Jan. 26, 1999, Louisville became the first city in Kentucky and among the first in the nation to protect LGBTQ+ people from discrimination by adding sexual orientation and gender identity to employment protections.
Earlier this year, Rep. Keturah Herron filed a bill to strengthen statewide protections from discrimination for LGBTQ+ people.
Wednesday’s rally at the Capitol Rotunda will feature those who support the bill and honor the ordinance.
Rallygoers will also speak out about a number of issues including a bill that limits diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives on the college level.
