LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A foundation has been established a year after a 10-year-old Kentucky boy was tragically killed in a car crash.
Kate and Trey Luxemburger officially launched the Jake Luxemburger Foundation in honor of their son this weekend with a first responders baseball game in Oldham County.
Jake was killed when the SUV he and his grandmother were traveling in was hit by a stolen vehicle driven by Tymetrius Walter, according to police.
The foundation is honoring his memory while supporting the community by making memorable moments through acts of kindness.
In a statement, the family told WHAS11 News they will look to support things Jake was passionate about like youth sports, first responders and animal rescues.
September 25 would have marked Jake’s 12th birthday and there will be a special bottle release at Butchertown Brewing with Jake’s jersey number three and the hashtag JakeStrong.
