LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Louisville fire department is rallying around one of their own after he was diagnosed with cancer.

Jim French has worked with the Fern Creek Fire Department for over 29 years. He currently serves at the Commander of the Fern Creek Fire & EMS Honor Guard.

French previously served the Highview and Fern Creek communities as a volunteer and career firefighter (Captain, Ret.) and was on the Highview Fire Board of Trustees. He has also served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

In November 2023, French was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and now his fellow firefighters are looking to help honor his decades of service.

French's friends, family and co-workers have launched a GoFundMe to raise $15,000 to help with medical expenses. If you'd like to donate, click here.
