Chemical plant catches fire in Rubbertown; no threat to air quality

Multiple agencies responded to the fire Saturday morning.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A large fire broke out Saturday morning at a chemical plant in Rubbertown.

The fire started about 7 a.m. at the Zeon Chemicals plant on Bells Lane, and caused an evacuation. Multiple agencies responded.

Zeon Chemicals makes specialty elastomers, which are rubber-like materials.

The cause of the fire has not been determined and it's not known if anyone is injured. Pleasure Ridge Park Fire is the lead department on the incident, and WHAS11 has reached out for more information.

A Zeon spokesperson told WHAS11 no chemicals were involved in the fire.
