Fire crews respond to exterior manufacturing fire in Shively

The fire was contained to the exterior of the building.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Fire crews were out in Shively on Monday after a structure fire, according to a press release.

They say it happened around 5:43 a.m. in the 2500 block of 7th Street Road. 

When crews from the Louisville and Shively Fire Departments arrived the founding a fire in an exterior conversion tank at AAK Louisville.

The product burning was a determined to be a food grade “cooking oil” leaking due to a malfunctioning gasket.

The Hazardous Materials Team, MSD, and the Health Department were called to the scene as a precaution due to a small Hydrogen leak in the conversion process. 

The fire was contained to the exterior of the building.

Fire companies remained on the scene to make sure the tanks were cooled and returned to normal operation.   

No injuries were reported in the fire.
