LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A person is in critical condition after a house fire happened in south Louisville on Thursday.
A Fern Creek Fire spokesperson said firefighters from Fern Creek Fire & EMS, Zoneton Fire and Okolona Fire were sent to a house fire in the 8000 block of Lantana Drive just after 4 p.m.
That's near the Smyrna Parkway exit off Interstate 265, otherwise known as the Gene Snyder Freeway.
When they arrived, the spokesperson said they found heavy smoke coming from the home. Firefighters rescued one unconscious victim.
First responders transported the victim to the hospital where they are currently in critical condition the spokesperson said.
About 20 firefighters got the fire under control within 15 minutes of arriving at the house they said.
The cause of the fire is now under investigation the spokesperson said.
