LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Dozens of firefighters worked to control a vacant house fire Sunday evening in the Portland neighborhood.

At about 6:45 p.m., Louisville Fire Department (LFD) crews were dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 100 block of South 30th Street, according to an LFD news release.

Crews arrived on scene within two minutes and found a vacant two-story residence with flames blazing in the back of the home.

Firefighters could see flames coming off the rear of the residence.

Authorities say firefighters encountered obstacles, including clear boarding used to secure the house and a burst supply line cause by a vehicle running over it.

Once firefighters entered the house, they battled the fire from inside and implemented thorough searches, all of which were negative.

The fire was considered "controlled" after approximately 45 minutes with 30 firefighters on scene.

Surrounding homes were protected and received minimal to no damage.

Louisville Arson is investigating the cause of the fire.
