LANESVILLE, Ind. — An 81-year-old man reported missing on Friday has been found.
Larry Gehlbach, who suffers from dementia, walked off in an unknown direction on Friday and was reported missing to the Floyd County Sheriff's Office.
On Saturday, authorities, EMS and more than 40 volunteer used ATV’s, K-9’s and drones to locate him.
With no success, more than 350 to 400 volunteers and emergency personnel returned to the area on Sunday.
Around 2:40 p.m., The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office said Gehlbach was located after he had fallen in a wooded area in Lanesville.
In a Facebook post, officials said it took them two hours to remove him from the area.
“This was an effort that Floyd County can be proud of. Members of our community and neighboring communities joined together to help a neighbor and his family in their time of need,” The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
Gehlbach is currently being treated at a local hospital and is expected to recover from his injuries.
