LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A colorful array of balloons filled the sky to honor the memory of former University of Louisville cheerleader Shanae Moorman.
Moorman’s former Male High School classmates organized the balloon release Sunday.
The wide variety of balloons represented different stages in Moorman’s life – purple and yellow were for Male High School, red and black represented her time at UofL and purple symbolized the cause she had and represented, cystic fibrosis.
Friends of Moorman say she fought the disease with grace and it never slowed her down.
“You never knew she had a life-threatening disease – you never knew it the way she carried herself. She defied so many odds with that disease and she never let it get to her,” friend Megan Crockett said.
Moorman died in an Aug. 6 crash on Interstate 64.
Bradley Caraway is facing murder and DUI charges in connection to the young woman’s death.
A scholarship fund has been set up in her name at the university.
