LOUISVILLE, Ky. — It's been over a month since a Givaudan factory explosion killed two people and injured more. The company is now holding it's last in-person community update meeting of the year as they continue to cleanup the Clifton neighborhood.
On Wednesday, they company said Givaudan and Crawford & Co Insurance will be at United Crescent Hill Ministries from 4-6 p.m.
They say additional dates will be announced in the new year.
Over the next few weeks they will continue to clean-up work at the Givaudan plant site including the removal of materials and ingredients.
Working in collaboration with the KY EPA and other relevant regulatory authorities, they've began a thorough protocol for material/ingredient removal.
The process includes removing any ingredients used in making colors as listed by the FDA, though not all of these may be on site.
The company says a reputable company, experts in material removal, will manage the process.
There will be more truck traffic to and from the site during this time so, the driveway from Payne Street will be blocked off from Dec. 17-20.
They ask that for safety reasons people should not cross the barriers or get in the way of the process and traffic.
Some of the clean-up/removal steps involved are weather sensitive so to ensure safe operations, times and dates may be changed or finalized with short notice.
