LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The new SkyStar Observation Wheel at Waterfront Park has closed early after a computer glitch caused the ride to malfunction.
A spokesperson for the attraction says a sensor went off just after 9 p.m. Saturday saying one of the gondola doors were open when the door was actually closed.
He says it’s protocol for the company to manually evacuate the ride whenever a sensor malfunctions.
Some riders were delayed getting off the ride while those waiting to get on the Observation Wheel were either given refunds or vouchers to come back when the ride opens.
The company says the Observation Wheel will reopen Sunday at 11 a.m.
