LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Gov. Andy Beshear wants to keep all eyes on Kentucky as the state continues to boom economically.
Beshear touted successes like Ford and SK On’s $5.8 billion, 5,000-job BlueOval SK battery plant in Hardin County; Toyota’s $1.3 billion investment in Scott County, AESC’s $2 billion, 2,000-job Gigafactory project in Warren County and for having the longest period with the lowest unemployment rate in Kentucky’s history.
Beshear wants to build on that momentum with a new initiative called “New Kentucky Home.”
The initiative aims to showcase the state’s growing economy and its many qualities including its cultural richness and welcoming communities.
It hopes to bring more businesses into the state, boost tourism efforts and retain visitors who eventually call the commonwealth home.
A new website also highlights the state's successes and a video where Beshear urges everyone to "come explore your new Kentucky home."
“Kentucky isn’t just a place; it’s full of communities where people support each other, where businesses thrive and where families create good, full lives. Because here in Kentucky, business is fast, but the pace of life is just right – and that is something a lot of companies and families are looking for when choosing their new home,” Beshear said. “Now is our time to reintroduce ourselves to the world and invite folks to come and experience our New Kentucky Home, and this initiative will help us showcase Kentucky as a place of incredible promise and potential.”
The end goal of the initiative is to build on Kentucky’s best four-year period of economic growth in the state’s history.
Beshear’s office said both the Cabinets for Economic Development and Tourism will work together to boost overall marketing presence on social media to spotlight Kentucky’s 120 counties.
Beshear wants Kentuckians to help increase awareness about New Kentucky Home. He’s asking everyone to post positive photos, videos and testimonials using the hashtag #NewKyHome.
Those who use the hashtag will have a chance to win a two-night stay at a Kentucky State Park.
The contest runs from December 2024 to April 2025.
Beshear will announce a winner once a month during his Team Kentucky updates.
