LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) – On Thursday morning, Oct. 20, it's your chance to practice how to drop, cover, and hold on during the Great Shake-Out Earthquake Drill.
Millions of people, including metro government employees, will participate in the drill at 10:20 a.m.
Emergency management officials say participating in the drill is a great way for your families and organizations to be prepared to survive and recover quickly from big earthquakes.
They add that preparation is critical for natural disasters like earthquakes because they can happen anytime or anywhere throughout Kentucky.
Minor earthquakes affected Kentucky in October 2015 and May 2016.
