LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Just three years after opening his sports bar near the University of Louisville campus, Darrell Griffith’s “Griff’s” is headed downtown.
In a post on social media Saturday, officials said it was a great three years at their location on Cardinal Boulevard but say “it’s time for something even bigger and better!”
The sports bar is planning to open at the former Hurricane O'Malley's site at Second and Liberty Streets in June, across from the Omni Hotel.
Dr. Dunkenstein, as Griffith is called among Cardinal basketball fans, started his sports-themed restaurant to build on his legacy in the NCAA and years in the NBA.
Griff’s features a variety of dishes including burgers, pasta and sandwiches.
Few details are known about the project but Griff’s officials say they’ll keep the public posted.
The closing date of the Cardinal Boulevard location has not yet been given.
