Habitat for Humanity celebrates construction of 600th home in Louisville

This home is special as it will be owned by two previous volunteers for the program.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville celebrated a huge milestone on Friday. The program has nearly finished the construction of its 600th home.

The new home is being built near Pleasure Ridge Park and is located in the new Santa Fe Crossings development.

As with every Habitat for Humanity home it will be blessed and then built by volunteers, but this home is special.

Once it's finished, the home will be owned by Juan and Nora DeLeon who are previous volunteers for the program.

The couple said they don't have the words to describe how they feel.

"It's amazing," they said. "It's just mind-boggling to have this opportunity and to be so blessed by everyone's time and commitment, it's just so amazing."

Santa Fe Crossing is a Habitat for Humanity development featuring walking trails, green spaces, common areas, and 40 homes for low-income families.
