Kentucky State Police are investigating after Deputy Billy Edwards and Kathy Edwards died in a motorcycle crash.

HARDIN COUNTY, Ky. — A Kentucky deputy and his wife were killed in a two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle Sunday night in Hardin County.

At about 8 p.m., Kentucky State Police Trooper Cole Payne was on patrol when he discovered a collision at the intersection of the U.S. 31W bypass and the westbound ramp to the Western Kentucky Parkway (WKP), according to a KSP news release.

Investigators believe off-duty Hardin County Deputy Billy Edwards, 67, of Elizabethtown was operating a 2023 Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling on the bypass when the driver of a 2024 Buick Envista attempted to make a sharp right turn onto the WKP exit ramp, causing him to collide with the motorcycle.

The impact of the Buick caused to motorcycle to lose control and exit onto the shoulder of the ramp. Deputy Edwards was ejected along with his wife, Kathy Edwards, 58, of Elizabethtown. Both Deputy Edwards and Kathy were pronounced dead at the scene.
