LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Dozens of veterans will depart from the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport for the first Honor Flight Bluegrass trip of the year.
On Tuesday, 80 veterans from World War II, Korea, and Vietnam and Cold War eras will spend the day in Washington D.C. visiting their national war memorials and reflecting on the lives lost.
For many of the veterans, it is a day they will never forget.
The public is asked to make the experience extra special by arriving at the airport for a hero’s welcome they deserved decades earlier.
The flight will arrive in Louisville around 9:30 p.m. and Honor Flight Bluegrass want people to wear red, white and blue while cheering the veterans on as they parade through the TSA checkpoint.
The veterans are expected to make their way into the airport lobby around 10 p.m.
