LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Authorities are investigating after a woman died inside the downtown Louisville jail Wednesday afternoon.
Maj. Jason Logsdon said officers found the woman unresponsive and in medical distress just after 4:30 p.m., and began trying to save her.
LMDC said they were unable to revive her even after EMS arrived.
Both the Metro Corrections Professional Standards Unit and the Louisville Metro Police Public Integrity Unit are investigating this incident Logsdon said.
“Our condolences are with the family," Chief Jerry Collins said. "Anytime there is a loss of life it is tragic, for everyone involved, and we are all impacted here at Metro Corrections.”
Collins said there are mental health services available for those in the jail who have been impacted by her death.
