LA GRANGE, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky's enhanced film incentives program has started attracting more movie makers.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports "The Ultimate Legacy," which was filming last week at a luxury estate in La Grange, is the first to take advantage of the state's increased incentives that were adopted earlier this year.
Under the previous program, production companies got a tax credit of 20 percent, but Gov. Steve Beshear signed a bill in May that allows companies to receive up to a 35 percent credit.
Eight applications for productions have been approved under the new incentives. That includes five movies, a documentary, a TV program and a commercial. Two other applications are up for approval this month.
The applications are up compared to last year, when a single request was received and then withdrawn.
