PAOLI, Ind. — A Bloomington woman has been arrested in connection with the death of an inmate at a southern Indiana jail in December.
In a press release, the Indiana State Police said they arrested a 31-year-old woman on preliminary charges of dealing in a controlled substance resulting in death, dealing a schedule I drug in a penal facility and trafficking with an inmate.
(NOTE: 13News does not name arrestees until formal charges are filed by a prosecutor.)
A warrant for the woman's arrest was issued Jan. 23 and she reportedly turned herself in on Jan. 25.
On Dec. 30, 2023, 54-year-old Jeanne Ross was found unresponsive by officers at the Orange County Jail in Paoli. The officers provided medical aid and requested EMS, but Ross was not able to be revived. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ross had been transported to the Orange County Jail from Hendricks County Jail on Dec. 26 on a warrant for failure to appear, according to investigators.
