Boil water advisory issued for Palmyra, Indiana residents

According to the Town of Palmyra, an internet company hit a water line causing the leak around the area of Shady Lane sometime Monday morning.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A boil water advisory has been issued for Palmyra, Indiana.

According to the Town of Palmyra, an internet company hit a water line causing the leak around the area of Shady Lane sometime Monday morning.

They say the leak has since been repaired.

All Town of Palmyra water customers are on a boil advisory until further notice.

Here are some tips courtesy of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to keep you safe:

  • Use bottled or boiled water for drinking, and to cook or prepare food
  • If bottled water is not available, boil water to a full rolling boil for a minute. Allow water to cool before using.
  • Boil tap water even if it is filtered.
  • Don’t use any water from appliances connected to your water line, such as ice and water from a refrigerator.
  • If your child is formula fed, it’s recommended to use ready-to-use formula.
  • Be sure to scrub your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and then rinse well under running water.
  • If you don’t have soap and water available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol.
