LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A bakery in New Albany has been heavily damaged after a Monday fire.

Crews arrived at the building that houses the Cake Ladies Dream Shoppe and some apartment units.

Kron said it took 15 firefighters to get the fire under control in about 30 minutes.

While the apartments are a total loss, he said firefighters did manage to protect the bakery located on the first floor.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.

The Red Cross are helping those who have been displaced.

Meanwhile, the Cake Ladies Dream Shoppe said they will be closed indefinitely and released a statement following the fire.

"I know mom and dad are looking down and weeping but praising God that everyone is okay. We have so much to be thankful for. Thanks to everyone who has supported our family business over the past 54 years."
