Charlestown trying to secure $50,000 for 'parklet'

The goal of the parklet is to create a 'welcoming public space' where people of all ages can come together.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A southern Indiana city is trying to create a 'pocket park' in its square.

Charlestown, Indiana is trying to crowdfund $50,000 to create a 'parklet' along Short Street.

The space will be filled with tables and unique seating.

The goal of the parklet is to create a 'welcoming public space' where people of all ages can come together.

If the project reaches its $50,000 goal by Jan. 25, 2025, the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority said it will match that, doubling the amount of funds for the project.
