A driver failing to use signals to change lanes led to a traffic stop and the discovery of drugs on I-65 South in Clark County Sunday evening.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Two women are behind bars after a traffic stop in southern Indiana led to police discovering drugs.

Indiana State Police said they pulled a Ford Ranger over after a trooper saw the driver failing to signal multiple lane changes around 7 p.m. Sunday.

The trooper stopped the vehicle driven by 63-year-old Sharon McLain of Jeffersonville on I-65 South at the 3.2-mile marker in Clark County. Tara Edwards, 48, of Clarksville, was identified as a passenger.

According to police, the trooper saw signs of potential criminal activity from both McLain and Edwards. A K-9 unit arrived at the scene and alerted troopers on the possible presence of drugs.

Troopers conducted the search of the vehicle and found 32 grams of suspected meth and more than 100 controlled prescription pills.

McLain and Edwards were taken into custody.

McLain’s faces felonies including dealing in meth, possession of meth and unlawful possession of a legend drug while Edwards was just charged with possession of meth.

Both women are being housed at the Clark County Jail.
