'Fake officer' scam targeting Clark County residents, authorities say

Several residents told the Clark County Sheriff's Office that a person has been pretending to be a police officer, telling them they have a warrant for their arrest.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is sending out a warning to residents about someone pretending to be a police officer.

Sheriff Scottie Maples said his office has received several reports of a person calling people, saying there is a warrant out for their arrest and then demands payment over the phone.

The sheriff’s office said they never solicit any kind of payment over the phone.

According to the Federal Trade Commission, you can report phone scams online at reportfraud.ftc.gov or by calling (877)-382-4357.
